Two Kinds of Fat

Your body stores energy in two types of fat.

Subcutaneous fat is the fat that is found directly beneath the skin and is healthy in normal quantities. This type of fat acts as the body's energy reserve and can help the body maintain warmth.

Visceral fat is dangerous and can cause numerous health problems including organ failure and cancer. In unhealthy quantities, it wraps around the organs, creating its own dangerous hormones that effect cravings, causing you to eat more. This type of fat often pools around the abdomen, causing large bellies.
