Fat and Weight Loss
It can be difficult to remember what causes weight gain and how you can prevent your weight from slowly tipping the scales. Here are the basic formulas to keep in mind as you begin your journey to a healthy weight:
Two Kinds of Fat
Your body stores energy in two types of fat.
Subcutaneous fat is the fat that is found directly beneath the skin and is healthy in normal quantities. This type of fat acts as the body's energy reserve and can help the body maintain warmth.
Visceral fat is dangerous and can cause numerous health problems including organ failure and cancer. In unhealthy quantities, it wraps around the organs, creating its own dangerous hormones that effect cravings, causing you to eat more. This type of fat often pools around the abdomen, causing large bellies.
You can help control the amount of fat in your body by flushing out the systems that store food and turn it into fat.
